Palace Hotel consists of one two-story brick building with approximately 11,500 sq ft of 14 apartments units, a community center, and retail space. Palace Hotel’s rooftop houses state of the art solar panels and fuel cell technology, which uses natural gas to create electricity, and in its conversion process generates heat to be used in order to provide domestic hot water to the building. The electricity generated with the fuel cells, costs about half of the local electricity rate. The combination of fuel cells and solar panels provide both renewable and distributive energy for the building that reduce the buildings electricity costs by 100 percent.
